A group of people - priests, laity and we Dominican sisters - who are holding the same ideals and convictions. When we sisters arrived in Colombia 35 years ago, in an area where people live under inhuman circumstances we created the "Foundation for Social Integration and Community Development", short FISDECO,  in order to find ways into a better future.

Our foundation carries out an extensive community development programme, among a large population characterized by a high decree of vulnerability.

FISDECO is a private, none profit making entity, approved by the Ministry of Justice, Resolution number 4592 of 04 September 1975, Nit. 860.047.327-6. FISDECO guarantees the stability of the project via which we the DOMINICAN MISSIONARY SISTERS OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS, carry out our pastoral / social mission.

We live and work on the southern outskirts of Bogotá, the capital. At our arrival there lived about 200.000 people in this neighbourhood. By now the population has grown to approximately 2.000.000. Where do they come from? The majority come from rural areas. The lacking infrastructure, bad harvests, insufficient opportunities to receive medical care or to be able to get an education, training and find a job, but above all, the violent situation, caused by militant terrorist groups, brings people into our area day by day.
