The objectives, according to the will of the founder members, are an expression of a service to the Church, through the ministry of the Dominican Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

 

TO FOSTER THE INTEGRAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE HUMAN PERSON AND TO BUILT UP CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES, through:

• The creation of children’s day centres, crèches, educational centres, sports, specialised adult education.

• Mental and physical health care of the beneficiaries through programmes in preventative and curative medicine and the improvement of living conditions.

• Educational programmes which favour family life.

• Integral care of the aged.

• Training in vocational skills of arts and labour.

• Community development in marginalized areas.

• The promotion of community endeavours creating workshops, cooperatives or any other kind of working opportunities.

FISDECO intends to be a concrete answer to the social situation, marked by conflict and the difficulties suffered by the country, in particular by the inhabitants of the area, which forms part of the administrative district “Alcadía Zonal 19, Ciudad Bolivar”. Together we strive to find ways which allow for human dignity, opening up perspectives for the future, giving hope and securing peace. “The true name of peace is called development” Benedict XVl

 

The most tangible forms of underdevelopment are the material ones, like the insufficient  infrastructure, inhuman living conditions, limited possibilities to train and find a stable job. The consequences are among many more the criminality of children and youth; however the real causes lie in the cultural and social uprootedness of our people, who find themselves between two worlds. Many never ever experienced being successful, even in small matters, a circumstance which makes them believe that they are “nobody”. And no one is poorer than the one who believes that he / she is no one and that he / she cannot achieve anything.

This is why FISDECO promotes and works precisely from this point: giving help for self help,providing the rod, showing how to fish, and not giving the fish, building up an atmosphere of trust, an indispensable condition for development, and an absolute  No to the “beggar mentality”, because self pity easily leads to  “pitiful conditions”.
