The Republic of Colombia, receives its name in honour of the discoverer of America, Cristóbal Colón; it is located in the north-western corner of South America, and its  costs are of  the Atlantic and Pacific ocean.  It also holds jurisdiction on the Amazon river and that is the reason why it has been called “Homeland of Three Seas". The predominant religion in Colombia is the Catholic one, 92% of the national population affirms to be Catholics or are registered as such, which does not mean that all are practicing. Its capital is Bogotá which comprises  the Capital District and it is also the capital of the department of Cundinamarca; it is a metropolitan area with more than eight million inhabitants, sub divided into 22 administrative districts. It is   the fourth most populated and important city of South America. The National Government's main headquarters are located in the city. The name Bogotá has its origin in the indigenous word Bacatá, name of the capital of the Zipas (chiefs), which means “fence outside of the farm". More Information

From afar Bogotá looks like a big, rich, nice city, palpitating with life, but as one comes closer to certain districts, the beauty one has seen from afar cannot hide its reality, because its geographical, political, economic and social situation is marked by chaos. Beneath the surface there exists a tangible complicated situation, because all suffer from the same the problems, not only in the location, but also in the rest of the city, the country and the world as such.
